Raychem RPG Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between the $3-billion RPG Group of India and the $13-billion Tyco Electronics of the US, will soon enter into large-scale manufacturing of transformers for the global market. The company also plans a string of manufacturing collaborations with multinational companies in emerging businesses like water metering and natural gas dispensers.
Raychem RPG, which recently entered into a technical tie-up with Hexaformer AB of Sweden to manufacture transformers in India, has decided to expand the scope of collaboration to manufacture large-scale transformers of capacity up to 2.5 mVA in about 30 models.
“Earlier, our plans were to manufacture energy-efficient small transformers of up to 200 kVA in India ...now the scope of collaboration will be scaled to manufacture transformers for them for emerging and select developed markets, besides making higher capacity transformers,” said Ramani Kasi, president, Raychem RPG.
