Premium textile manufacturer and retailer Raymond Limited is betting big on the organised sub-premium textile market with its economy brand ‘Makers’.

“There is a major shift happening from the unorganised to the organised sector, especially in the economy segment across the smaller towns, which we want to tap,” Raymond vice -president (emerging businesses) Ram Bhatnagar told Business Standard.

The domestic textiles market is pegged at Rs 50,000 crore, of which 75 per cent belongs to the unorganised sector.

He said the suiting/shirting segment alone accounted for about Rs 12,000 crore at present, of which organised space was merely Rs 4,000 crore.

“With Makers, we are looking at over 10 per cent market share in the economy segment pan-India,” he added.
