Realgard Power Systems, a Thrissur, Kerala-based stabiliser OEM (original equipment manufacturer) supplier, entered Andhra Pradesh with the launch of its overall voltage circuit breaker (OVCB) for home appliances on Friday.

“Unlike stabilisers, which are for single-phase, the OVCB comes in single and three-phase models for the protection of home appliances like LCD televisions, air-conditioners, refrigerators and music systems,” said Srikumar, managing director of Realgard. Also called as a one-box stabiliser, the OVCB was developed in-house by Realgard. The company is in the process of obtaining a patent for the same.

The company, Srikumar said, was gradually deviating from its OEM business and was looking at focusing more on OVCBs. Realgard manufactures and supplies stabilisers to Whirlpool under the ‘Duramax’ brand and to Godrej under the ‘Smartcare’ brand. Thus far, it has supplied 50,000 units to Whirlpool and 25,000 units to Godrej.

Currently with a capacity to churn out 30,000 units of stabilisers a month at the BPL Sanyo manufacturing plant in Palghat, Realgard is planning to double production in the next one year.

“We are aiming at selling between 50,000 and 100,000 units of OVCBs within the next six months, including 10,000 units in AP in the coming quarter in tie-up with our authorised distributor Green Technologies,” Srikumar said, adding it had already introduced its products in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and would shortly launch them in Maharashtra.
