REC Q1 net up 73% at Rs 472 cr

State-run Rural Electrification Corporation today reported a 73.10 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 471.82 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2009.

Total income of the navratna PSU rose to Rs 1,508.90 crore during the June quarter, from Rs 1,022.78 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, REC said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Shares of REC closed at Rs 178.90, up 1.68 per cent on the BSE.
