The state owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited(SCCL) has achieved a record production of 35.3 million tonnes in the year 2004-05. |
The achievement is remarkable in the face of the resultant loss of 1.1 million tonnes of production on account of ban on use of nitro-glycerin-based explosives in underground mines. |
Despite this loss, coal production has witnessed a growth rate of 4.3 per cent over the last year's production, according to a press release. |
The company has also achieved an all-time record in coal despatches. SCCL despatched 34.7 million tonnes of coal during the year 2004-05 of which 74 per cent of coal went to power plants. |
The despatches to cement industry stood at 10.4 million tonnes, which constitutes 14 per cent of the total production. The company's productivity(measured as output per man shift) in 2004-05 was 1.62 tonnes as compared to 1.51 tonnes in 2002-03, the press release said. |
