Rel Comm launches MMS interoperability

Reliance Communications today announced launch of Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Interoperability for its subscribers as well to other mobile subscribers worldwide.

With this launch, Reliance Mobile customers will be able to share their MMS pictures, videos and tones with subscribers of global telecom majors such as China Mobile, China Unicom. Digi-Malaysia, Telstra-Australia and MTNL, among others, a release issued here today said.

Reliance is currently in discussion and also testing interoperablity with other operators in India.

"Reliance has been at the forefront to introduce innovative services that have redefined mobile telephony and the way millions of customers use mobile phones,"  Mahesh Prasad, president (Application Services Group) of Reliance Communications, said.

This is a part of Reliance's ongoing effort towards building an operator-neutral mobile community across the globe, the release said adding, that a similar such initiative was launched recently to bring mobile blogging on Reliance Mobile World (R World) which allows subscribers to share their photos of videos worldover by wirelessly uploading the content on a website at the click of a button.

Currently, Reliance Mobile customers are charged Rs 5 per MMS. The MMS interoperablity service on Reliance Mobile is supported by global data network services and solutions provider Alcent.
