Reliance Industries (RIL) recently commissioned a  polyester filament yarn (PFY) facility at Silvassa, close to Vapi, giving a boost to its position as the world’s largest producer of polyester fibre and yarn.

With this, the combined PFY capacity of RIL has risen to 1.5 million tonnes per annum the company said. According to RIL, the entire production from the facility has been successfully placed in domestic and international markets. The new plant co-exists with the company’s texturising facility at Silvassa,  cutting on packaging and logistics costs.

“This, coupled with integration of PTA, will make the facility among the lowest cost polyester filament yarn producing sites globally.  The commissioning, marks the beginning of the mega petrochemical expansion of Reliance Industries,” the company further stated.
