He will be responsible for the operations of the Renault-Nissan Alliance factory at Oragadam near Chennai. The plant has a potential annual capacity of 480,000 units and exports to more than a hundred countries and regions, making Nissan the third biggest exporter of cars from India. The Renault-Nissan Alliance employs more than 15,000 people in India.
Macdonald began his career at Nissan in the Sunderland plant in 1991 and has been Deputy Managing Director of RNAIPL since January 2014. Toshihiko Sano, currently Managing Director at RNAIPL, will take up a new position as Senior Vice-President of Nissan's key supplier in Japan, Calsonic Kansei.
