Renault produces one million dusters in four years globally

India is the 4th biggest market for the Renault's SUV

France’s automobile giant Renault said it produced one million units of its Dusters compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the past four years. Total sales in 2013 were a little over 376,000 vehicles, said the company, announcing the millionth Duster was made at its Curitiba plant in Brazil. Russia is the biggest market, with 151,633 Dusters sold since its launch. Then come France, where the SUV is sold under the Dacia brand, at 145,612 units; Brazil, 117,303 units; India, 85,974 units; and Germany (under the Dacia brand), 70,159 units. Duster is assembled at Renault’s factories in Pitesti (Romania), Curitiba (Brazil), Envigado (Colombia), Moscow (Russia) and Chennai (India).

Russia continues to be the biggest market for the product. Ever since the product was launched it sold 151,633 units, followed by France, under Dacia brand, (145,612 units), Brazil (117,303 units), India (85,974 units) and Germany, under Dacia brand, (70,159 units)

 

Duster is a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced jointly by Renault and its Romanian subsidiary Dacia since 2010. The Dacia-badged Dusters have been made at Pitesti, Romania, since 2010 for sale in Europe, Turkey and the Maghreb nations.

It has also been made at the same plant with Renault badging since June 2010, initially for the Middle-East, Egypt and other African markets, then, from 2011, the Gulf region.

The Curitiba factory in Brazil has been building Renault-badged Dusters since October 2011 for sale in Brazil and Argentina. The plant in Envigado, Colombia, has assembled Dusters since February 2012 for its customers in Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile, Peru and Central America.

Production of Duster in Moscow, Russia, began in December 2011 for the local market, with Renault badging.

The Rs 4,500 crore Renault-Nissan factory at Oragagadam, near Chennai, started assembling since May 2012, for the domestic market and for export markets including South Africa and Indonesia as a Renault model, as well as for the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Malta and Ireland branded as a Dacia.
