French automobile major Renault would focus on India as the country would be among top three passenger car markets by 2020, a top company official said on Saturday.
“India, along with with Brazil and Russia, will be our focus countries at the moment,” Renault India vice-president (communications) Rajib Mitra said.
Launching the Renault SUV ‘Duster’ SUV here, Mitra said 50 per cent of Renault’s sales were coming from outside Europe.
He said within a span of 12 months, the company had launched four models.
Mitra said Renault India would continue to increase the localisation content of engines and parts at its R&D centre at Chennai.
To strengthen sales network, the company would increase the outlets from 55 to 100 by December, 2012 across 80 cities.
