Restoration work was underway at the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) for most of Tuesday, a day after it was hit by a severe fire accident.
Despite putting in all efforts under the supervision of senior officials, the production in the fire-hit steel plant could not be restored till Tuesday evening. Officials said normalcy was likely to be restored late Tuesday night.
In the wee hours of Monday, a major fire had broken out at the flagship entity of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), damaging the Power and Blowing Station at the plant. The station supplies compressed air to the steel plant’s blast furnaces, which produce hot metal.
