RIL becomes second largest global producer of paraxylene

Company commissioned its last crystallisation train of PX complex at Jamnagar facility today

With the commissioning of the last crystallisation train of para-xylene (PX) complex at its Jamnagar facility, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) became the second largest global producer of the key raw material used in manufacturing of terephthalic acid (TPA), and purified terephthalic acid (PTA), among others.

As per an official communique, RIL's PX plant is built with state-of--art crystallisation technology from BP, which is highly energy efficient. With the commissioning of the plant, RIL's PX capacity has more than doubled with about 11 per cent of global production.
