RIL changed name of gas firm six times

What's in a name? A lot, if the entity is Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL), the gas-based energy undertaking of Reliance Industries.
 
Over the past six years, RNRL changed its name as many as six times. In the process, the number of fully-paid up equity shares of the company went up from 200 of Rs 10 each to 122.31 crore of Rs 5 each.
 
Incorporated in March 2000 as Reliance Platforms Communications.com Private, it was rechristened as Reliance Energy Private in January 2003. After 13 days, its name was changed to Relaince Wattage Private.
 
Its status was changed to public limited company in July 2005. It was renamed as Reliance Fuel Management on August 3, 2005. Barely a week later, its name was changed again to Global Fuel Management Servics and, finally, to Reliance Natural Resources on January 9 this year.
 
The company had two shareholders "" Vidya Dharra and Surendra Pipara "" at the time of its incorporatisation.
 
Dharra and Pipara held 100 shares each. However, their names do not include in the promoters group any more.
 
The promoter group now consists of Kakilaben, wife of Reliance Industries founder chairman Dhirubhai Ambani; ADAE's chairman Anil Ambani and his family- wife Tina Ambani and two sons Jai Anmol and Jai Anshul.
 
The three-member board comprise Sandeep Tandon, L V Merchant and J P Chalasani.
