State-owned steel maker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) today said its sales rose by two per cent in August to 2.28 lakh tonnes notwithstanding difficult market conditions.
"In spite of difficult market conditions in domestic as well as global market, RINL could sell 2.28 lakh tonnes steel in August, a growth of 2% over the corresponding period last year," RINL said in a statement.
Sales of 2.28 lakh tonnes during August is by far the highest during the current fiscal, it added.
The company said it recorded Rs 1,116 crore turnover during the month taking its top-line to Rs 4,909 crore during the five-month period ended August 31.
"Sales of by-products during April-August period stood at Rs 243 crore, registering a growth of 39 per cent over the same period last year," it said.
RINL said its steel production got severely impacted due to declaration of "power holiday" for three days in a week.
