Rolls-Royce today said it would enhance its engineering capability in India with plans for a facility here that will employ 500 people by the end of 2017. The work done at the facility will include aerospace engineering for customers in the region as well as support for Rolls-Royce's regional supplier base, company officials said.

It will also include development of new tools and technologies that make best use of the capabilities existing in India, they said.

"When we look at India, when we look at what government is doing, when we look at initiatives being taken and what direction India is taking, it is absolutely important we build ourselves in India and serve India as India grows," Rolls-Royce President (India & South Asia) Kishore Jayaraman told reporters here.

He said: "It is going to happen two ways and we see that the growth happens with our partners like TCS and QuEST. It can also happen with people we are going to build ourselves.." "Our plans to expand our capabilities here is a testament to India's talented engineering work force and strongly supports our growth strategy in India, "he added. Rolls-Royce currently operates and manages two engineering service centres in Bengaluru.

One is with QuEST launched in 2005 that has over 600 people supporting the delivery of Rolls Royce engineering solutions across multiple business sectors. The second centre is with TCS which was opened in 2010 and employs more than 300 engineers providing engineering solutions and services across the entire product
