The Leela group of hotels is re-positioning itself but is this enough to take on the competition?

A large group of Tibetans are gathered in the sprawling grounds of the Hotel Leela in suburban Mumbai. In the lobby, staffers are running helter-skelter as security is beefed up. It is obvious that an important guest has checked in. Even chairman, C P Krishnan Nair is preoccupied.

Wearing a yellow sweatshirt with cuffed sleeves and a white jacket, he could join his guests and not be noticed. They are all waiting for the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama, who has stopped over en route to Goa with a 12-member entourage.
