Roots Corporation (RCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), is planning to open a Ginger hotel in Nashik by March 2007 at an investment of Rs 10 crore. |
Besides, RCL is also opening nine another Ginger hotels in major cities in the country in the current fiscal at an investment of Rs100 crore. |
Incorporated in December 2003, RCL operates 'Ginger', a first of its kind category of 'smart basics' hotels. Currently, RCL has three Ginger hotels in Bangalore, Haridwar and Bhubaneswar. The RCL has already started construction a Ginger hotel on Trimbak Road in Satpur MIDC, Nashik. |
By December 2006, RCL will open four more hotels in Pune, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram and Durgapur. Besides, works on another five hotels in Agartala, Tirupur, Varanasi, Pondicherry and Goa, which are expected to open by March 2007, have already commenced. |
These hotels will have 100-200 well-appointed rooms with all facilities like Nashik's proposed Ginger hotel, sources said. |
Priced under Rs 1,000 per night for single rooms, Ginger hotels have created a new category in the domestic hospitality landscape, giving a major fillip to Indian tourism and other ancillary industries. |
