RSP posts best ever output in April-June

Besides, production of hot rolled coil touched an all time high of 230,504 tonnes while the plate mill production was the best since inception at 120,506 tonnes

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has recorded best ever first quarter production in key areas in 2013-14.

From April to June, 2013, the steel plant produced 579,832 tonnes of hot metal, 544,900 tonnes of crude steel and 530,065 tonnes of finished steel, which is best ever performance in these three vital areas for any first quarter period in past years.

Besides, production of hot rolled coil touched an all time high of 230,504 tonnes while the plate mill production was the best since inception at 120,506 tonnes. RSP also made 34,962 tonnes of galvanised sheets which is a growth of 32.96 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
 

The first quarter of the current fiscal witnessed significant progress in the areas of modernisation and expansion. The new sinter unit produced 219,346 tonnes of sinter. The new coke ovens battery, commissioned in the first quarter, continued to show increased efficiency while the hot trial of the new caster was commenced successfully during this period.
