RSP's record performance in July 2008

With the production of 1,95,031 tonnes of hot metal, 1,82,002 tonnes of crude steel and 1,73,167 tonnes of saleable steel, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered an impressive capacity utilisation creating best ever production in the month of July since inception.     
Capacity utilisation for the month was — hot metal 115 per cent, crude steel 113 per cent and saleable steel 122 per cent, RSP sources said.     

During April-July 2008, the steel plant achieved output levels of 0.739 million tonnes of hot metal 0,694 million tonnes of crude steel, 0,623 million tonnes of saleable steel and dispatch of 0,643 million tonnes of finished products which were not only the best ever for any April-July since inception of the steel plant but also represent impressive growth of 6.3 per cent, 8.8 per cent, 7.5 per cent and 8.4 per cent respectively compared to the corresponding period of last  Year.     

 

During the period, the steel plant's finishing units like plate mill, hot strip mill, cold rolling mills, both spiral weld (sw) and electirc resistance weld (erw), pipe plants as well as silicon steel mill also came up with impressive performance.     

Further the finished products like plate mill plates, hot rolled coils for sale, cold rolled sheets and coils, galvanised sheets, tin plates, erw pipes, sw pipes and crno steel  registered outputs that were significantly higher compared to the corresponding periods of fiscal 2007-08, the sources said.
