RVNL may sanction Barang- Rajathgarh track by June

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) expects to commission the 31.5 km Rajathgarh-Barang track project by June next year. The project sanctioned in 1999, involves an investment of Rs 239.16 crore.

Out of 15.87 acres of land required for the project, 11.15 acres are private land, 3.02 acres government land and the remaining 1.7 acres forest land. Land acquisition for this project is being done by East Coast Railway (ECoR) and the zonal railway has already acquired 11.15 acres of private land.

RVNL has completed 9.30 lakh cubic metres (cum) out of a total of 18.62 cum of earth work. It has also commissioned one out of 13 major bridges and 24 out of 39 minor bridges needed for the project.

 

Meanwhile, the third line between Khurda and Barang involving a stretch of 34.94 km has been targeted for completion by RVNL by June next year.

This project sanctioned in 2003-04, is being taken up with an investment of Rs 206.66 crore.

RVNL has completed 9.97 cum out of 13.43 cum of earthwork required for this project. It has also built one major bridge and commissioned 30 out of 66 minor bridges needed for the project.

The 12.3 km Cuttack-Barang track project being executed by RVNL is scheduled for completion by December next year. For this project, RVNL has completed 8.39 lakh out of 10.51 lakh cum of earth work and it has also commissioned one out of six major bridges. This project sanctioned in 2003-04, involves an expenditure of Rs 134.55 crore.

The 25.6 km Jharsuguda-Rengali track doubling project sanctioned in 2005-06 at a cost of Rs 91.41 crore is set to be commissioned by November 2010.

Revenue officials have undertaken joint field verification in connection with land acquisition for this project.

For the third line between Vizianagaram and Kottavalasa involving a stretch of 34.70 km, three composite tenders for earth work, major bridges and minor bridges are being finalised.

This project, sanctioned in 2006-07, entails an expenditure of Rs 194.89 crore and has been targeted for completion by March 2011.

The fourth line between Kottavalasa and Simhachalam North, involving a stretch of 17 km is scheduled for completion by December 2010.

The yard plans as well as drawings for major and minor bridges have been approved for this project.

Tenders for earth work, major bridges and minor bridges for the above project were floated twice and discharged and fresh tenders are being finalised.

This project, sanctioned in 2006-07 is being taken up at a cost of Rs 94.73 crore.
