Sabhav Engg led consortium bags Rs 1,571cr project

Ahmedabad-based Sadbhav Engineering Limited led consortium has bagged a contract of Rs 1,571 crore from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for 22 integrated border check-posts in the state on build operate and transfer (BOT).

Supported with IT architecture, the integrated check-posts replete with arrangements for RTO checks, facilities for sales tax and excise clearances as well as weighment bridges. The facilities will include installation of scanners that will keep a vigil over any movement of hazardous goods, a company press release stated.

The value of the contract is against the estimated cost of the project at Rs 1,000 crore.  The project includes data generation at the locations that will be transmitted in double quick time to a centralised data receiving centre at Mumbai thus providing about duration of stay of each vehicle in Maharashtra.

 

Sadbhav’s consortium associate is SREI Infrastructure Finance Limited.  Sadbhav holds 51 per cent stake in the consortium, while 49 per cent belong to SREI.  The concession period is 24 years and six months including construction period of 18 months.

The project will also feature prompt verification of all commercial vehicles including private buses coming from the adjoining states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chattishgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa at entry point of each of the 22 locations.

The IT supported integrated facilities will ensure that there are no delays. The expeditious dispatches will eliminate delays and reduce traffic congestion on the highways, the release further stated.  All the check posts will have 422 lanes and will have 378 weigh bridges with a capacity ranging from 60 to 150 tonnes.

The company apart from collecting toll charges will enjoy advertisement, weighment, commercial rights and parking rights for the entire concessnaire period.
