Safexpress opens logistics centre in Nashik

Safexpress, a logistics provider, has opened its first branch in Nashik and the sixth in Maharashtra. The company plans to set up a logistics hub in Nagpur shortly. It has already bought 22 acres for the purpose.

The logistics centre, spread over 25,000 sq ft, is located near Vilholi village (20 km from Nashik) along NH 3. The goods handling capacity of the logistics centre here will be around 15,000 tonnes per month.

Speaking to Business Standard, a senior official from Safexpress said, "Today, Nashik has emerged as a major auto, electric and wine centre. Four industrial estates of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and two industrial estates Have come up on private land are in the Nashik belt. There are around 2,500 engineering, electric and auto industries."

Being equidistant from both Mumbai and Pune is a plus point for the city. As industries need and depend on logistics, our new logistics' centre here will go a long way in benefiting the business and trade community in the Nashik belt. Also through Nashik, we will be able to provide better service to our clients across the entire western region.

"Geographically, Nagpur and Indore are in the central part of the country and these two cities will have a great importance in view of logistics in the near future. Considering this, we plan to set up a logistics hub in Nagpur and we have also bought a 22 acre of land here for the purpose," he said.

The company's logistics centre at Nashik, with 10 docking bays and seven booking vehicles will provide service on two routes "" one to Mumbai and other to Pune.

Safexpress offers integrated logistics management, express, air, multi-modal, door-to-door, time definite delivery and consultancy service.

The company covers 522 destinations operating through 37 logistics centres at strategic locations across the country covering over 3 million sq ft of warehousing space.
