Safexpress to expand in Orissa

Safexpress, India's leading third party logistics provider, has chalked out plans to expand its operation in Orissa.

The company, at present, operates from six centers in the state located at Rourkela, Balasore, Cuttack, Bhubhaneshwar, Hirakud and Sambalpur respectively and intends to take its business turnover to Rs five crore by the end of next fiscal.

With over 14 per cent of business coming from the eastern region, Orissa has achieved significant importance in the company's plans to consolidate their leadership position in the logistics segment, said a company spokesman.

He said, with increasing industrial and business development in the region, the company expected to push its business in the east zone to Rs 60 to 70 crore over next couple of years.

Safexpress, which has consistently posted annual business growth of 40 per cent over last few years, offers a range of express services in the country through integrated logistics management, express, air, multi-modal, door-to-door and time definite delivery in addition to logistics consultancy and management services.

The Rs 120 crore company operates in over 500 locations across the country and has a fleet of 2400 weatherproof ISO 9002 containerized vehicles with cargo carriage capacity of 15,40,000 cubic feet.

On the company's business plan in Orissa, the spokesperson said, improving infrastructure, attractive tax subsidies, lower cost of production and cheap labour are some of the reasons why the company finds it convenient to expand its operation in the state.

Besides, Orissa plays a key role as a transit centre between important destinations to which it provides vital link with the help of cross docking. Hence, it is prudent on the part of a logistics company to invest in the state, he added.

In Orissa, Safexpress currently provides its services to construction equipment companies like Hilti India, printing appliances companies like Gestetner India, Diamond Applique works, Seminis vegetable seeds ltd., Orissa cycles, Redington India which is a channel partner for IT products etc.
