Safexpress to invest Rs 1,000 cr in 4-5 years

Supply chain and logistics player Safexpress said it plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the next four-five years in setting up logistics parks, expanding its fleet and opening more offices across the country.

"We will invest Rs 1,000 crore in our business in the next four-five years, primarily in setting logistic parks and fleet expansion as well as opening new offices," Safexpress General Manager-Marketing Vineet Kanaujia told PTI.

Kanaujia said, of the total investment, around Rs 600 crore would be spent on setting up 32 logistics parks across the country.

"We will open 12 logistics parks by the end of the current year out of the total of 32 parks to be set up in the next two years," he said.

 

Of the 12 parks to be opened this year, three have already been set up in Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Gurgaon.

A small part of the investment will also go towards setting up warehouses taking the overall storage capacity of the company to 10 million sq ft in the next couple of years from the present 5 million sq ft.

The rest of the investment would be made in purchasing vehicles for fleet expansion as well as opening 30-40 offices across the country in the 4-5 years.

"All the investment would be made by the company through internal accruals," Kanaujia said.

Established in 1997, Safexpress has a fleet of 3,500 containerised vehicles with 562 offices across the country. It offers supply chain consulting, third party logistics services and express distribution.
