Sahara Media Entertainment Ltd (Sahara TV), after winning the copyright infringement case about its TV serial 'Karishma, a miracle of destiny', has now sued Barbara Taylor Bradford, for alleged violation of Calcutta High Court's order dated May 12. |
Sahara filed the contempt of court petition in the court of Justice P C Ghosh for alleged violation of the earlier order passed by Justice Ghosh, who had in his order dated May 12 directed Bradford to give an undertaking in a form of an affidavit stating that she would pay damages to Sahara TV. |
In the contempt of court petition, it was alleged that she failed to file such an affidavit in terms of the court's order. |
Bradford and her husband jointly filed the suit for copyright infringement against Sahara TV and its associates and obtained a stay of the telecast of the serial. |
Bradford alleged that the serial was based on her novel, 'A woman of substance' without permission. |
The division bench of Calcutta High Court vacated stay of telecast which was confirmed by the Supreme Court. |
