Sai Priya Beach Resorts, the first beach resort in the state, has decided to go in for a moderate Rs 1 crore expansion over the next one year. The beach resort expects its turnover to grow by about 20 per cent in the current fiscal. |
"The tsunami meant that we lost significant business over the last 45 days. Despite this, our turnover will touch Rs 2 crore as compared to Rs 1.6 crore in the last fiscal," DRK Prasad, managing director of Sai Priya Beach Resorts, told Business Standard. |
Sai Priya has been running the beach resort at Rushikonda beach near Visakhapatnam for the last 10 years. "At present, we have 22 air conditioned rooms and cottages and restaurants, bar and meeting venues. We are going to add another 14 rooms very shortly which will cost us close to Rs 1 crore," Prasad said. |
"Our occupancy rates are usually 100 per cent between October and mid January every year and we have to turn away guests. Keeping this demand in mind, we are constructing another 14 rooms immediately to cash in on the demand in peak months," he said. |
Most of our guests come from Kolkata but due to the tsunami this resort has lost significant business during January. In the next fiscal, we expect our turnover to touch Rs 2.5 crore because of the capacity addition, he added. |
"At present, close to 75 per cent of our business comes from tourists outside the state. Now we are taking measures to attract more customers from Vizag and its surrounding places," he said. |
