SAIL November sales up 10% on year at 970,000 tonne

Company leaves product prices unchanged for December

Steel Authority of India Ltd today said it sold 970,000 tonne steel in November, up 10% from same period last year on the back of aggressive marketing.

The state-owned steel producer said its export sales rose to 61,000 tonne during the month, showing a three-fold growth over same period last year, the company said in a release.

During Apr-Nov, SAIL’s exported 320,000 tonne, which was up 72% on year,

Regarding product price revision for December, noting the subdued domestic demand for the allow, the company has left its product prices unchanged, said a source close to the development. “Dont think there will be any price revision this month,” the source added.
 

Alongside, the company has commenced production from the rebuilt coke oven battery-2 at its Durgapur steel plant, it said. The rebuilt that cost Rs 213 crore is aimed to augment the capacity of saleable steel to 2.12 million tonne from the present level of 1.60 million.
