The board of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has approved two fresh projects aimed at increasing production at its integrated steel plants at Durgapur and Rourkela. Both these plants are looking at making profits in the current financial year.
As per a statement issued by the company, Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) is entering the zone of net profit after 25 years and Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is on the threshold of achieving cash profit.
The board has granted an in-principle approval for installing a 130-tonne ladle furnace in the steel melting shop of DSP to further improve both the quality and volume of the plant
