The telecommunications equipment and software market in the country grew around 10 per cent in 2002-03 to touch Rs 28,238 crore from Rs 25, 706 crore in the previous year. This is, however, a slow growth, compared to the 21 per cent growth the sector saw in 2001-02.
According to the 8th National Telecom Survey Report by Voice and Data magazine, equipment contributed 70 per cent to the total industry size of Rs 28,238 crore last year. Software exports contributed 19 per cent, and the remaining 11 per cent came from turnkey services.
