Consumer durables major Samsung India Electronics Ltd is targeting a turnover of Rs 2,800 crore in fiscal ending December 2003.
The company had posted total sales of Rs 1,215 crore in the consumer durables and home-appliances segment in the first half of the fiscal (January-June 2003), a 69 per cent growth over the corresponding period of the previous year.
The consumer electronics division with Rs 729 crore sales accounted for 60 per cent of the turnover for the period. Home appliances made up for the rest 40 per cent.

The company sold 6.9 lakh colour televisions during the first half of the year. This is a growth of 116 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year.
About 1.5 lakh flat televisions were sold in the same period which is a 275 per cent growth over the previous year. These contributed to 22 per cent of the total television volume.
The company has set a sales target of 1.2 million units for this year. Out of this, the flat television volume is targeted to be 3.2 lakh units.
Among other products, refigerator sales were up by 55 per cent at 1.8 lakh units, washing machine grew 70 per cent and microwave and airconditioner sales rose 82 and 81 per cent, respectively during January to June, 2003.
