Samsung launches 19-inch LCD screen

Samsung India Electronics Private Ltd launched its 19-inch format LCD monitor, 940 BW, for the Indian market at Chandigarh today.
 
Describing the 940 BW as a technological breakthrough, Samsung India Deputy Managing Director Ravinder Zutshi said the 940 BW's ultra wide screen would enable the user to view two whole A4 size pages side by side, making it ideal for stock market brokers, BPOs, graphic designers etc.
 
The company is also planning to introduce 20-inch and 21-inch LCD monitors in the third quarter of this year. The estimated market price for the 940 BW is Rs 18,000.
 
Zutshi said the company was targeting a 200 per cent growth in LCD monitor sale this year. The manufacturing capacity for LCD monitors would be doubled from 2.5 lakh units per annum last year to 5 lakh units per annum this year, he added.
 
The vice president-IT, Samsung India, Sanjay Sharma, said LCD monitors were likely to contribute 20 per cent by volume and 35 per cent by value to the company's total monitor sale.
