Samsung plans $15mn handset unit in Haryana

Samsung today announced plans to set up a handset manufacturing facility at Manesar, Haryana with an investment of $15 million.

The facility will have an initial capacity of one million units per annum, which would be stepped up to 20 million units by 2010.

It would be the fourth overseas handset manufacturing facility for Samsung after China, Brazil and Mexico.

"We plan to make this mobile facility the manufacturing hub for south-west Asia," H C Ryu, director (telecom) of Samsung India, said.
