Sandvik to set up R&D Center in India

This new centre will develop products that are suitable and relevant to facilitate future business development in the region

Global Engineering company Sandvik Group is to set up research and development centre as a part of their long-term focus on engineering markets in the next four years.

This new centre will develop products that are suitable and relevant to facilitate future business development in the region. Further, the new set-up will complement and support existing R&D units in all business areas globally in materials and process engineering.

The Group R&D Center will be located in Pune which is already a major Sandvik site with operations in production, R&D, design and engineering and will be a significant expansion of the existing team of modeling and simulation experts, In the next four years between 2014-17, The R&D team will be having a team of 90-100 research associates.
 

Commenting on this, Olle Wijk, senior vice president and Head of R&D, Sandvik Group said, "There is a tremendous development of technical and R&D capabilities in India. Utilizing this expertise means great opportunities for Sandvik, as R&D is an enabler for business development. We are initially especially interested in computational simulation competence, where we already have a good team in Pune. The Group R&D Center India will enable us to develop new technical concepts and opportunities that will benefit both global and local growth."
