Here's a mixture of bad and good news for the English movie buffs in the twin cities. The bad news is that their beloved Sangeet Cinema, one of the oldest theatres in Secunderabad, is going to be demolished shortly, and the good news is that the existing theatre will be replaced by a ultra-modern Rs 30 crore new age entertainment center. The existing theatre is spread in an area of 1.25 acres.

Somna Entertainment, managed by the owners of Sangeet Cinema, in association with Singapore-based Royal Brothers and CPG Corporation, is planning to build a multiplex of six theatres, a five storeyed shopping complex, a small bowling alley and a food court.

Announcing this here at a press conference here today, Raj Kumar Hiranandani, the chief executive of the Royal Brothers group, said they were also toying with an idea to include a spa and health club, in addition to adequate parking facilities at the new complex.

S S Misra, the proprietor of Sangeet Cinema, said that the project was expected to be completed in the next two years.
