The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition seeking a CBI probe into Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal's alleged links with the underworld. A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, while turning down the petition filed by Delhi-based journalist M Furquan, said there was no need to pass any further orders as the petitioner was given sufficient opportunity to take remedial action as per the law. Furquan had alleged that funds for the biggest private airline Jet Airways was given by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel. He had also sought a CBI inquiry into the matter. The petitioner had challenged the Bombay High Court judgement that dismissed a public interest litigation alleging that Goyal had links with the underworld and this nexus could jeopardise national security. |
