Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, is looking to make India its export hub, a top company executive said here.

"Schneider runs a big R&D (research & development) centre in India in Bangalore. From Karnataka, we are exporting our whole range of products to 15-20 countries. In a way, India is already an export hub for Schneider and we intend to make it one", said S Nagarajan, vice president (national sales), Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd.

The R&D centre in Bangalore is manned by over 1,200 people. Every year, Schneider spends four to five per cent of its turnover on R&D.

Schneider is eyeing double digit growth in the India market this fiscal, higher than the industry average of five per cent.

"There are states where we are growing at the rate of seven to eight per cent. In some states, we are growing even higher. Buildings, infrastructure and industrial segments are the key contributors to our turnover. We are also focusing on data centres", Nagarajan informed.

He declined to comment on turnover from India operations since Schneider was not listed in the country.

Schneider has presence in 130 countries and India is growing faster than many regions, he added. "Growth in the country's eastern region will be two to three times higher than the national average and we want to cash in on this advantage".

In Odisha, Schneider is keen to engage the state government for upcoming projects like Smart Cities and Smart Grid. It also wants to be associated with the state government in solar power.

Schneider today opened its office in Bhubaneswar to ensure seamless services for its local customers.

"The office in Bhubaneswar further fortifies our footprint in the city and also our commitment of amplifying our presence across various regions in the country. The Eastern region is witnessing a growing need for better connectivity with its customers, as well as, ease in providing services as per our global standards. With this new and a better than before set up, we at Schneider Electric are optimistic about embarking a series of successful milestones in Bhubaneshwar, in the coming years", said Nagarajan.
