Schwing Stetter India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schwing GmbH, Germany, is planning to set up a training centre in Hyderabad for engineers and operators of its products like batching plants and ready-mix concrete (RMC) trucks, at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

"We are hopeful of getting the training centre ready in a year,'' said Anand Sundaresan, managing director, Schwing Stetter. The company is looking at acquiring two acres in Hyderabad for the proposed centre while it will take about six months to install the machinery.

This apart, it will set up one such centre each in Pune or Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi. Six more will come up at others places in phases. The centres will also offer overhauling services.

The Tamil Nadu headquartered company is focusing on increasing its production space at its manufacturing plants from the present 22 per cent to about 34 per cent.

On Wednesday Schwing launched SP 1400, a new concrete pump with remote control facility for placing concrete up to 30 floors, in Hyderabad. The equipment is priced at Rs 17 lakh and the company expects to sell 300 units in India in a year. Its order book stands at Rs 240 crore to be delivered in phases.
