ScratchGard Overseas India Private Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of ScratchGard UK, launched ScratchGard screen protection kits for handheld electronic devices in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The kit protects device screens such as PDA, pocket PC, mobile phones, digital cameras, digital video cameras, iPods, MP3 players, handheld gaming devices, LCD monitors and laptops from scratches and dust.

Currently available for over 350 models covering all major brands, the kits come with a price tag of between Rs 50 and Rs 450 for mobile phones and Rs 900 for laptops.

"We sell around 50,000 kits a month in India. At present, we are achieving a turnover of Rs 4 crore from the mobile sector and Rs 2 crore from the laptop sector. We expect our turnover to grow 50 per cent next fiscal, basically in sync with the mobile phone industry," Rahul Bathija, managing director of ScratchGard Overseas India, told mediapersons here on Tuesday.

The company has a production unit in Mumbai with a capacity of 4 lakh pieces a month, and is set to commence operations at its 2 lakh-capacity per month Dubai plant this year.

It is also planning to add more products to its portfolio, including protection kits for LCD TVs and other electronic products like headsets in a couple of months.
