Market regulator Sebi is conducting an investigation into trading pattern in the shares of Reliance Petroleum during November 1-29, 2007, to probe insider trading charges, Parliament was informed today.
"As per information received from SEBI, investigation is being conducted in the trading pattern in the scrips of Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL), for the period November 1, 2007, to November 29, 2007, to identify possible violations under Sebi Regulations...," Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
Khurshid was replying to a query by former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.
Singh had asked whether it is a fact that the investigation carried out by Sebi confirms that there had been insider trading activities by Reliance Industries and its officials on the shares of RPL.
