Server market logs 30% growth in Q2

The expansion of new distributed computing workload deployments across key segments have helped the unit shipments to record a growth of approximately 12% over the previous quarter with the overall server shipments during Q2FY07 aggregating to 35,615 units.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) bagged the top spot, both in terms of revenue factory revenues as well as unit shipments, followed by IBM.

Amit Dalal, analyst for server research, IDC India said, "The India server market is poised to show strong momentum in the coming quarters as well. While demand for volume servers will increase beyond the metros, the need for scale will continue to create demand for high-end and mid-range servers as well."
