Seven Entertainment, a film marketing company, has announced its plans to market Indian films globally.

As its first venture, the company would market films made by independent film makers such as Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Kanika Verma, Anik Ghosh, Bappaditya Roy and Assamese director Jahnu Baruwa.

Anish Ranjan, managing director of the one month-old company, said, "We are in the process of setting up distribution networks in countries such as Germany, France and Italy. We are also looking at the possibilities of organising film festivals."

According to Sunil Mutreja, one of the promoters, the company is committed to marketing films with a global appeal. This will ensure that good films recover their costs while at the same time give their makers the deserved credit that is missing, said Mutreja.

Ranjan said that the company is not tapping any institutional investor for financing the films. It has sufficient funds to finance five movies, he said. The company will target film markets in the US, Europe and Canada which are known to be good markets for Indian movies abroad.

While director such as Dwivedi will direct only one film, Baruwa will direct three films for the company costing an average of Rs 1 crore.

Says Baruwa whose Assamese films are known to generate good business, "It makes sense for film makers like me to be a part of such a venture so that my films are better marketed and get the right audience."

The company plans to release three films in the first quarter of the coming fiscal.
