The state government, through its nodal agency for land acquisition, Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa (Idco), has allotted 9906.49 acres of private land to 17 different industries at the Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex (KNIC) in Jajpur district. The land has been allotted between 1990-91 and 2010-11.
"9906.49 acres of private land has been allotted to 17 industries at Kalinga Nagar through Idco. Together, these industries have paid Rs 89.30 crore as land acquisition cost”, minister for industries and steel & mines Raghunath Mohanty said in the state assembly.
The minister said, Tata Steel has been allotted 2499.97 acres of private land in four phases at a cost of Rs three lakh per acre. The land was allotted to the steel major at Nuagaon, Gadapur, Chandia, Gobarghati and Khurunti villages.
JSL Ltd (formerly Jindal Stainless Ltd) has been allotted 800.5 acres in two phases while Mid-East Steel Company Ltd was given 428.15 acres at Khurunti village within the KNIC.
Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL) has taken possession of 501.68 acres of private land while Visa Steel was allotted 435.92 acres of private land.
Other industries which have been allotted private land by Idco at KNIC are KJ Ispat Ltd (33.03 acres), Dinabandhu Steel & Power Ltd (27.89 acres), Rohit Ferro Tech Ltd (6.3 acres), Maithan Ispat Ltd (1.37 acres), Uttam Galva Steels Ltd (192.13 acres), Brahmani River Pellets Ltd (37.67 acres) and Apeejay Surrendra Group (3.01 acres) to name a few.
