Kolkata-based Shree Ganesh Jewellery House Ltd (SGJHL) has forayed into solar power by setting up a 25 mega watt plant in Gujarat at an investment of Rs 400 crore.
“We are foraying into solar power business through our subsidiary Alex Group of Companies at the Gujarat Solar Park. In the park, which is Asia’s largest single location installation of over 200 MW, we have set up a 25 MW plant with an investment of Rs 400 crore,” said Nilesh Parekh, Chairman, SGJHL. Its Gujarat plant will be inaugurated by April 19.
The firm has already signed a memorandum of understanding with government of Gujarat to sell power at Rs 15 per unit. “We are also in talks with states like Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. We are setting up two more plants, 25 MW in Odisha and a 5 MW in Rajastan,” he added. In addition to this, talks are on with Odisha, Bihar and Gujarat for 100 acres of land to set up a solar park.
