Shanker Annaswamy is IBM India MD

IBM on Friday announced the appointment of Shanker Annaswamy as managing director of IBM India.
 
He takes over from Abraham Thomas who has been named vice president for IBM's Global Small and Medium Business (GSMB) ASEAN/South Asia, based out of Singapore. Annaswamy will report to Satish Khatu, general manager, IBM ASEAN/ South Asia. The appointments are effective mid-July 2004.
 
Announcing the appointment, Satish Khatu said: "Shankar has the broad industry expertise, local and regional experience and leadership "" qualities that will further strengthen our organisational capability and help us continue on our growth in India."
 
According to a communique from IBM India, Annaswamy will be responsible for the operations of IBM India, including all product and services divisions as well as the company's sales and distribution.
 
He joins IBM from GE Medical Systems (GEMS) where he served as president and chief executive officer for GEMS South Asia and managing director Wipro-GEMS.
