Shapoorji, Ap Ink Pact For Biotech Park

The government of Andhra Pradesh has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shapoorji Pallonji & Company for the development of a biotech park over 150 acres at Turkapalli, about 30 km from Hyderabad.

Shapoorji Pallonji & Co is a 135-year-old construction company which has executed projects in Mumbai such as the Taj Mahal Hotel, Oberoi Hotel, the Reserve Bank of India and the State Bank of India buildings and the sultan's palace in Oman, apart from many prestigious industrial projects.

The proposed biotech park is adjacent to the existing ICICI Knowledge Park and would provide international class infrastructure for setting up biotech manufacturing units, complementing the R & D units to be set up in ICICI Knowledge Park.

 

The biotech park will be developed on build-own-operate (BOO) basis by the Mumbai-based company.

"We will develop the basic infrastructure with an investment of Rs 22 crore and will also set up a central facility centre (CFC) with another Rs 15-20 crore to house some critical biotech equipment for the common utilisation,
