Home-shopping television network, Shop CJ (formerly Star CJ Network India), a 50:50 joint venture between South Korean home-shopping major CJ O Shopping Co Limited and private equity firm Providence Equity Partners group, launched its 24-hour Telugu home shopping channel on Wednesday.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Kenny Shin, chief executive officer of Shop CJ, said the new channel was currently available across all major cables and would be soon available on the Sun Direct DTH platform in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

"With the launch of the Telugu home shopping channel, we have begun the process of introducing region-specific niche channels," he said, adding that Shop CJ was reaching over 65 million households in India and was currently catering to about 40 per cent of the market.

Shop CJ is poised to cross the Rs 1,200-crore turnover this year, recording a 40 per cent growth over its sales of Rs 850 crore last fiscal. Shop CJ's channel launch in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will strengthen its presence in India. It expects to generate Rs. 250 crore revenue from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone by the next fiscal year 2016, said N Ramakrishnan, chief financial officer of Shop CJ Network.
