Raheja-owned Shoppers Stop (SSL) today said that it has closed down three of its book stores 'Crossword' in the country. They were at Mumbai Airport, at Shopper's Stop stores in Chennai and New Delhi, SSL said in a statement to the BSE.
With the closure, the company now has 51 Crossword stores in the country, it said without giving reasons for the closure. The company has also closed down its airport retail store 'Stop & Go' at Mumbai Airport.
The company's shares fell nearly three per cent at Rs 84.10 on Friday after the announcement. The company's shares have fallen nearly 83 per cent from its peak last year.
Shopper's Stop recently announced that it will discontinue its catalogue retailing operations under the brand Hypercity Argos as it could not meet planned performance levels.
