Sical Logistics has posted 64 per cent drop in its net profit at Rs 6.12 crore for the quarter ended September 30 compared with Rs 17.04 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year on the back of losses incurred at its ship-berthing facility in Chennai, margin pressure on the trucking division and coal-handling contract with Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and higher costs in the non-core business. |

The company's net sales for the second quarter were Rs 676.70 crore compared with Rs 633.89 crore last year. For the 18 months ended September, the company has posted a net loss of Rs 333.94 crore on net sales of Rs 3,289.02 crore. |
The company extended the financial year 2005-06 by six months, to end on September 30, 2006 with a view to capturing the impact of proposed business and financial restructuring. |
The company reported a net loss of Rs 267.70 crore on net sales of Rs 2,612.31 crore for the 15 months period ended June 30, 2006. |
UB net up 225% to Rs 13.2 crM |
United Breweries has reported 225 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs 13.2 crore for the second quarter (ended September 30, 2006). The company's gross sales shot up 117 per cent to touch Rs 343.78 crore for the quarter ended September. |
Kalyan Ganguly, managing director, United Breweries, attributed the spurt in both the company's bottomline and topline to the huge growth in north Indian markets, particularly Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. |
"The auction system was done away with in this region and duties were rationalised. This has resulted in many more retail outlets coming into the picture. The prices too dropped, which resulted in gross realisation moving up 35 per cent," Ganguly said. |
Virinchi Tech revenue up at Rs 8.02 cr |
Virinchi Technologies' total revenues for the second quarter ended September 30 stood at Rs 8.02 crore against Rs 6.18 crore in the same quarter last year. |
The company also recorded a sequential growth of 7.89 per cent in total revenues over the last quarter. |
