Siemens net profit up 11%

Siemens Ltd posted a net profit of Rs 39.5 crore for the quarter ended June 30 2005, a 11 per cent growth over Rs 35.6 crore in the corresponding period during the previous year.
 
The company registered a total income of Rs 597.4 crore for the quarter under review, a growth of 34 per cent compared with Rs 445.7 crore in the comparable quarter the previous fiscal.
 
New order inflow for the three months ended June 2005, increased by 257 per cent to Rs 1,442.7 crore against Rs 404.2 crore in the previous corresponding quarter.
 
During the quarter, the company received orders from the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation, Power Grid and Neyveli Lignite expansion.
 
Juergen Schubert, managing director, said, "Even excluding some large orders, our businesses, both domestic as well as exports, grew by more than 40 per cent. We are investing substantially in all of our capacities, infrastructure and resources to create a solid foundation for our growth strategy. This also, includes setting up of some greenfield projects, such as the transformer factory at Kalwa near Mumbai."
