Sigma-Aldrich Corp expands global shared services centre in Bangalore

Company's employees in GSS Centre supporting many of its global functions, including strategic marketing, sales support and business analytics

Sigma Aldrich Corporation, a life science and high technology company, on Saturday announced the expansion of its global shared services (GSS) Centre in Bangalore, which supports the company globally by offering value-added capabilities to drive business growth and accelerate operational excellence.

The opening of new GSS facility closely follows the recent celebration of Sigma-Aldrich’s 20 year anniversary in India and is part of its commitment to expand in the Asia Pacific region, the company said in a statement.

“India remains a major focus for Sigma-Aldrich. With GSS, we will leverage our capabilities, talent and infrastructure in India to better serve our global customer base,” Karen Miller, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Corporate Communications, Sigma-Aldrich Corporation.

The company’s employees in GSS Centre are supporting many of its global functions, including strategic marketing, sales support and business analytics, Miller said.

Sigma-Aldrich’s biochemical, organic chemical products, kits and services are used in scientific research, including genomic and proteomic research, biotechnology and pharmaceutical development among others.

Its customers include many Fortune 500 organisations and scientists in life science companies, university and government institutions, hospitals and industries around the globe. The company operates globally and has 9,000 employees.
